Leaving San Martín del Camino

The Camino runs parallel to the N-120 for another 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), then angles right onto country dirt paths and groves of trees on the way to Hospital de Órbigo. If it rains, even only slightly, watch the path under your feet, for all along this stretch snails and caterpillars may come out to revel in the precipitation. Notice that the terrain is changing, slowly shifting from mustard-yellow towards a darker, iron-rich earth. The fields around you grow many large-scale crops, including corn, potatoes, and sugar beets.
